65%: Needs to Pick Up the Pace
Councilmember Allen deserves significant credit for championing fair elections legislation. He also played an important role in advancing paid family and medical leave, and for supporting efforts to implement the NEAR Act. Though he is now leading efforts to change DC’s estate tax to prevent further tax cuts for millionaires, in the past he has voted against delaying major tax cuts for millionaires and corporations.
Councilmember Allen’s votes that held DC back:
- Opposed fair scheduling for part-time workers
- Opposed guaranteed access to in-suite bathroom for shelter residents
- Supported restricting shelter access for people experiencing homelessness
- Opposed extended access to shelters for families in need
- Opposed a slow down of tax cuts for multi-millionaires and huge corporations
- Opposed delaying the millionaires’ tax cut
- Opposed delaying the corporate tax cut
